Summary

“The Mirror Visitor stands on the same shelf as Harry Potter。”—ELLE Magazine

The gripping finale to Christelle Dabos’s international best-selling Mirror Visitor saga, Ophelia, the mirror-traveling heroine, and Thorn discover that the truth they have been seeking has always been hidden behind the mirror。

In this thrilling finale to the Mirror Visitor saga, Christelle Dabos takes us on a journey to the heart of a great game to which the all-too-human affairs of her book’s protagonists are ominously connected。

The distrust between them has been overcome and now Ophelia and Thorn love each other passionately。 However, they must keep their love hidden。 Only in this way can they continue their journeys toward an understanding of the indecipherable code of God and the truth behind the mysterious figure of the Other, whose devastating power continues to bring down entire pieces of arks, plunging thousands of innocents into the void。

Ophelia and Thorn arrive at the observatory of the Deviations, an institute shrouded in absolute secrecy and overseen by a sect of mystical scientists who secretly conduct terrifying experiments。 There, Ophelia and Thorn hope to discover truths that will halt the destruction and death and bring the world back into balance。

What the hell was that ending? It wasn't even an ending。 Not a sad ending, and deffinitely not a happy one。 It was rather confusing, there were a lot science talk I personally didn't understand, but after all, I understood the main plot。 (I'm really bad at science stuff) My girl, Ophelia had to suffer a looot。 She was awfully determined and I look up at her because of that, even though she's fictional。 I looove Thorn。 He should've deserved better。I don't know how to feel after I finished this se What the hell was that ending?

Well, it's fair to say that this book was good - just not what I wanted。 As the 'ultimate plot' takes centre-stage it lacks the things that I loved about the others, especially the first two。 It became very confusing at times and technicalities and revelations at every corner detracted from the 'magical' writing of the earlier novel。 And the ending!! boy oh boy。 I was pretty satisfied with how the logistics of everything came together but really am not a fan of very open ended conclusions。 If th Well, it's fair to say that this book was good - just not what I wanted。 As the 'ultimate plot' takes centre-stage it lacks the things that I loved about the others, especially the first two。 It became very confusing at times and technicalities and revelations at every corner detracted from the 'magical' writing of the earlier novel。 And the ending!! boy oh boy。 I was pretty satisfied with how the logistics of everything came together but really am not a fan of very open ended conclusions。 If that didn't happen (and I think we all know what I'm referencing here) I would have been less frustrated with this book。 All the same, 'The Memory of Babel' and 'The Storm of Echoes' are not the same as 'A Winter's Promise' and 'The Missing of Clairdelune', the latter group which I refuse to accept is of the same story as the former。 Let's hope Christelle Dabos gives us more closure in a spin off。 。。。more

Despite it being my least favorite of this quartet, I still stand by my belief that this is one of the most whimsical, original, wildly nuanced, and complex series I've ever come across。 My love for Ophelia, her indefatigable courage and her character growth, is unmatched。 And Thorn。。。。 god that ending killed me。 Seriously, I'm unwell。 Truthfully, I'm left with far more questions than I have answers (and that might be in part to very complex plot points being quite literally lost in translation) Despite it being my least favorite of this quartet, I still stand by my belief that this is one of the most whimsical, original, wildly nuanced, and complex series I've ever come across。 My love for Ophelia, her indefatigable courage and her character growth, is unmatched。 And Thorn。。。。 god that ending killed me。 Seriously, I'm unwell。 Truthfully, I'm left with far more questions than I have answers (and that might be in part to very complex plot points being quite literally lost in translation), but I still enjoyed slipping into Dabos's whacky, beautiful world-building, her erratic, quirky characters, and a romance that genuinely makes me want to sob。 。。。more

It was ok。 Disappointingly ok, given how great the previous books have been。This series is one I have been recommending incessantly as the kind of series that deserves the attention that Harry Potter got。 Unfortunately this final book lets the series down a little。 If you're the kind of person who thought Star Wars didn't need the introduction of midichlorians, you're probably going to be wrestling with the feeling, like me, that this book worked really hard to explain some very bad ideas。A lot It was ok。 Disappointingly ok, given how great the previous books have been。This series is one I have been recommending incessantly as the kind of series that deserves the attention that Harry Potter got。 Unfortunately this final book lets the series down a little。 If you're the kind of person who thought Star Wars didn't need the introduction of midichlorians, you're probably going to be wrestling with the feeling, like me, that this book worked really hard to explain some very bad ideas。A lot of the joy of this series was that it didn't really need to explain why there are big floating tracts of land called arks。 Or why each ark has a giant immortal from which everyone is descended。 Or why the different descendants of each immortal have different powers。 Dabos did a brilliant job of creating this strange world and making it feel full and lived in。 This is what I view as perfect world-building。 It doesn't have to be completely explained or perfectly logical, nor every difference from our own world justified。I could see the series heading this way in the third book, but I was hoping it would come together in a more cohesive way while remembering the characters。 Explanations are overly complex, the rules are spelled out, but the rules still don't make sense, so there's a feeling that nothing matters, because the rules of the world are now so arbitrary and complex that they can't be followed anymore。 Ophelia declares her revelations about the nature of her world and we just have to believe her because Jesus we certainly can't make sense of anything happening。 (view spoiler)[ Dabos pulls the plug on the magical world she created, bringing it crashing back to realism with a resolution that restores the planet to a normal geography of the non-floating variety。 You don't get the feeling that this is particularly a good ending。 Worse, the characters don't even get their happy ending。 Poor Ophelia is essentially mutilated for life, has lost her ability to Read objects, and we're told explicitly that she can't get Thorn back。 And your other fav? Yeah, he's got cancer and will die soon。 No, there's no bearing on the plot, it's just that Dabos can't have you walking away under the impression that anyone lives happily ever after。 What a great mood to close a relatively light hearted series on。 (hide spoiler)] 。。。more

I loved the details but I could not accept how it ended。 Personally, I think neither of the last two books could top the ones that preceded them。 Still, this series is everything to me and I would like to thank Christelle Dabos and Hildegarde Serle for making Ophelia's story come to life。 Thank you for granting me passage into that mirror。 I still could not believe the quartet is coming to a close。 I loved the details but I could not accept how it ended。 Personally, I think neither of the last two books could top the ones that preceded them。 Still, this series is everything to me and I would like to thank Christelle Dabos and Hildegarde Serle for making Ophelia's story come to life。 Thank you for granting me passage into that mirror。 I still could not believe the quartet is coming to a close。 。。。more
